According to Business Insider, native ads will drive 74% of all ad revenue by 2021. Have you jumped on that bandwagon yet? If you still have doubts, maybe we can convince you! We use native advertising a lot, and here are our top 5 reasons why:
Most native advertising platforms operate on self-served basis. You receive access to the panel that lets you control all aspects of your campaigns: adding and pausing them, optimizing, changing budgets and bids, etc. Your ads usually need to go through review process, which might take up to several days. Other than that, you don't need to wait until someone else does something for you. If you want something done, you can just immediately do it yourself.
There are plenty native advertising platforms. Some are very big and international, some smaller and local. It's hard to predict what kind of budgets you're going to need, as it depends on many, many variables. However, we know from experience that, even in those big platforms, good optimization can lead to big costs reductions – something you can't achieve when buying ad space at fixed prices.
You know those big banners covering content that you actually wanted to see? It's very easy to click them unintentionally. It's even worse when area to close them is so small that you click around it several times before finally succeeding. If advertisers are paying for such ad in PPC model, they are charged for each of those clicks, although they aren't likely to bring any conversions or quality traffic. However, even in different payment models such accidental clicks bring no value to advertisers and instead can cause some damage to brand's image.
In comparison, someone clicking on non-intrusive native ad most likely really wants to see the content it leads to.
Native ads need to adjust to its surrounding, so the same ad may look a bit different on various publisher's sites. In order to achieve it, it must be simple. Usually, you only need to write some text, add URL and one or more images, and voila – your ad is ready. You don't need a designer or any specialized software. So whenever you want to test new ideas, it's very fast and easy to do so.
We know it from experience. If it wasn't the case, we wouldn't be using it so much. But you don't have to take my word for it, there's plenty of research supporting my claim. For example:
